The US looked very solid on the field from start to finish on defense, midfield but a little conservative on the offensive attack in the first half. The midfield kept its consistancy on in controling the ball and passing it to its forwards Tobin Heath, Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan who tried to create some goal opportunities against the Mexico's goalkeeper Cecilia Santiago during the first half.

The US opened the score very early in the game through a error committed by Mexican's goalkeeper Santiago, in trying to pass the ball to her defender inside the 18", the ball was intercepted by USWNT's forward Tobin Heath, who evaded a defender and kicked a hard-shot leftfooted into the net of Mexico's lower right pole, placing the US in front 1-0 over Mexico and scoring the only goal of the half.

In the second half, the USWNT's head coach Jill Ellis, made three key subtitutions with the entrance of Christian Press, Carli Lloyd and Adriana Franch, that worked perfectly, reinforcing the offensive attack and creating more goal opportunities against the Mexico's goalkeeper Cecilia Santiago the rest of the game. With the addition of these players, the team looked stronger and more effective, they looked like real defending champions that these ladies got us used to see them playing, despite the hot sunny temperatures over the stadium.

The US increased their lead to 2-0 at the 76' minute through Mallory Pugh,

when Carli Lloyd who received a pass from midfield on breakaway to the leftside field corner and centered a lower shot inside 18' finding Pugh who tap the ball into the net for the second goal of the game and placing the US 2-0 over Mexico.

The the third goal came once again from bench at the 88' minute through USWNT's offensive player Christen Press, who received a quick pass outside the short area(18') from Julie Ertz, evading two defenders and scoring with a hard kicked lower leftfooted from inside the 18" to sealed United Stated victory of  3-0, over Mexico.
