TOWSON, MARYLAND(SMI-WOMEN-SPORTS, JUNE 29-JULY 09, 2022)-Charlotte North, Kayla Treanor & Taylor Cummings combined for 11-goals as the 8-time world champions,  US Women's Lacrosse National team defeated England 15-9, on 4th of July Holiday, celebrating US Independence Day at 2022 Women's World Lacrosse Championship in Maryland.

With the victory today, the US team who are the reigning world champions finish the group pool competition first and undefeated with 4-0, overall record in Group A.

Another strong and solid performance by the US Team,  who opened the score just 48' seconds at the start of the game and on first offensive attack through Kayla Treanor,  who unassisted sent the crowd wild in celebration to put the United States in front 1-0, over England.

Four minutes later, the 2021 Tewaaraton Award winner Charlotte North scored two consecutive free position goals in a span of 3.5 minute to increase the lead of 3-0, and after Claire Faram scored for England to make it 3-1, Kayla Treanor added her second goal of the game with 20' second left to closed-out the first quarter with the US leading 4-1, over the English.

In the second quarter both teams traded goals back & forth with Taylor Cummings scoring two goals( 14:24, 00:15), Ally Mastroianni (unassisted at 08:16), and Marie McCool (unassisted at 03:51) for the US, while Olivia Hompe scored three goals in the quarter (11:24, 09:30, 05:30), Megan White (06:23) and Tilly Shires (02:01) for the English to reduce the US margin of 8-6, at the end of second quarter. 

The game was very close at this point and the third quarter began with Sam Apuzzo(14:22) and Marie McCool(10:58) scoring two goals in a span of 3.5 minutes to put the US ahead 10-6, over England. The English answered back with two goals on their own to keep the score close with Tilly Shires (Free Position, 08:42) and Georgia Southorn (03:10) and Taylor Cummings(05:22) scored her second goal of the game on a free position to end the third frame 11-8, in favor of the United States.

With the score 11-8, the English not showing any signs of surrendering and keeping their guard-down, Kayla Treanor(Unassisted 14:03) and Charlotte North(Unassisted, 12:26) scored two consecutive goals, their third within two minutes apart to increase the lead for the US of 13-8, over England with 12 minutes left in the game.

The English answered back with a goal on their own scored by Megan Whittle on a free position shot at 09:29, to reduce the margin to 13-9, but Charlotte North scored two more goals within a minute apart, her fourth (03:42) assisted by Ally Kennedy and fifth (02:42) of the game to sealed the victory for the United States of 15-9, over England.

US were led by Charlotte North with five-goals, Kayla Treanor and Taylor Cummings added three goals each, Marie McCool scored two and Sam Apuzzo and Ally Mastroianni contributed with one goal apiece in the victory.

With the win, the US advances to the playoff stage and will face Kong Kong China Tomorrow Tuesday July 5, on the Championship Bracket first round.
