US Women Powerhouse Sloane Stephens, Venus & Serena Williams Get Consecutives Victories and Advance to Next Round of  2018 US Open .!

NEW YORK(SMIWIRE,08.27-09.09.18)-The US women keep showing their power at the US Open tennis courts, obtaining consecutives victories today, from US Open defending champion, Sloane Stephens, the celebrities' sisters, Venus & Serena Williams and Sofia Kenin, closing out the night and advancing to the 3rd round of the 2018 US Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows.


Four out six American's women competed today, four advanced and the other two, Claire Liu and Vania King, loss their games and got eliminated from the tournament.

Slone Stephens, who has been criticised by her lack of consistency of winning during the season, except for reaching the 2018 French Final, since winning the 2017 US OPen Women's title, defeated Anhelina Kalinina from Ukraine in three sets (4-6,7-5,6-2), coming from behind, 

after a slow start of losing the first set at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

"A tough day, She was playing very well and I just had to weather the storm and wait for my opportunities. Obviously I wish I could have been playing a little bit better. But I just found a way today, and sometimes it's not going to be the best, but you've just got to battle through". said Sloane Stephens at the post-game press conference.

Venus Williams, who is ranked #16 by WTA, bested Italy's Camila Giorgi

in tho sets (6-4, 7-5), advancing to the third round and will face her sister, Serena Williams, who also won her match, defeating Germany's Carina Witthöft in two sets (6-2,6-2) as well, setting up another showdown bewteen the sisters in the third round of the US Open on Friday."Obviously 

it's a definitely a tough draw. She's definitely fully capable of winning tonight's match. So hopefully I'll see her Friday." said Venus Williams at the post-game press conference when she was asked of the possibilty of playing her sister in the next round.

Serena Williams defeated Germany's Carina Witthöft in two sets (6-2,6-2)

and will face her sister Venus in the third round of the US Open on Friday.

"The best part is we bring out the best in each other. I know when I play her, I have to play some of my best tennis. She does, too. It propels us to continue to play that for the tournament. It sets a tone for us.I feel throughout  our career, we have pushed each other to be the best that we can be, and be Venus and Serena Williams".Said Serena Williams at the post-game press conference, when asked about what's the best part playing her sister Venus on a tour or Grand Slam. 

In the other match, Sofia Kenin, beat Maria Sakkari from Greece, in three sets (4-6,6-1,6-4) and will face WTA#8  Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic on the third round of the US open on Saturday.
