Recent News Undefeated NYU beats Washington St. 64-58 & Takes First Place in the UAA Standing !

NEW YORK (SMI-WIRE,01.23.15) Two undefeated women's basketball teams from the UAA Division III conference "NYU & Washington State" collided in a showdown match today, where NYU came-up victorious, 64-58, taking first place in the UAA standing & extending its winning streak to 15 games during a conference play @ Coles Sports Center, NYU University.
Both teams traded baskets back & forth keeping the score close with the first half ending with NYU leading 41-31.
In the second half NYU picked-up where they left-off by increasing its lead to a game-high 11 points, 49-38, with 14:15 remaining in the game.
Washington regrouped and created few runs down the stretch to pulled within three points, 56-53, with 2:37 left in the game and had few chances
to tied the score but few fouls killed their chances in overcoming the score.With NYU leading 61-58 with 42 seconds left into the game ,Megan Dawe, hit the clinching layup with 11 seconds left to sealed the victory for NYU.
"Wash U. is a phenomenal team, and we're not going to beat them by 30 points," said NYU Head Coach Lauren-Hall Gregory."We're going to go on our runs and they're going to go on their runs. It's just that we had to go on a lit bit of a longer run at the end of the game to come out on top."said NYU head Coach Gregory after the game.
The Violets were led by four players in double figures with Megan Dawe scoring 15 points & seven rebounds.Kaitlyn Read contributed with 14 points and six rebounds.Also Amy Harioka and Melissa Peng added 11 points a piece for the final score.
With the win, NYU take first place in the UAA women basketball standing and improved to its perfect record of 15-0 & 4-0 in UAA conference.
