NEW JERSEY (SMI-WIRE,08.09.15) The New York RedBulls defeats NYC F.C 2-0 & complete a sweep of " New York Derby " crown, reassuring the superiority of the RedBulls over the NYC F.C. despite facing a full squat of stars ,Villa, Pirlo & Lampar in the starting line-up, claimed themselves once again the team of New York of the 2015 season.A sell-out crowd of 25,219 fans gathered to RedBulls arena 2 witness the showdown that got very loud everytime their team touch the ball or moved to the opposite goal. The game began with both team in control for the first 20 minutes but NYC F.C. had the opportunity to open the score early in the first three minutes when Mix Diskerud slid a pass to David Villa, who subsequently found Frank Lampard moving toward goal who just missed wide left.
NY RedBulls opened the score at the 21st minute, when N.Y.C.F.C. defender Jefferson Mena missed the ball trying to clear out a hard cross from left back Kemar Lawrence, leaving Wright-Phillips alone who scored for a 1-0 RedBulls lead at the end of the half.
Second half NYC F.C went to the offensive attack but Villa & Lampar were neutralized by the RedBulls defensive line. RedBulls Midfielder Felipe collected a pass near the corner of the 18 in the 84th minute and unleashed a shot to the near post, beating Saunders and putting the nail in the coffin in the process.“We wanted to make sure those two didn’t have an easy day,” Red Bulls Coach Jesse Marsch said of Lampard and Pirlo, praising the way his midfielders had neutralized them. “They took it as a personal challenge, playing against great players like that.” said Marsh after the game.
