NEW YORK CITY (SMI-WIRE,07.30.14) Two top European soccer teams from the English Premier League " Manchester City Vs. Liverpool" collided in a showdown of the Guiness International Championship Cup match, where Liverpool defeated the Premier League Champions, Manchester City 3-1 (2-2) in penalty shootout & front of 50,000 fans @ Yankees Stadium NYC.

The win put Liverpool on top of Group B in the International Champions Cup and they move on to play AC Milan on Saturday, with the possibility of a final against Manchester United to follow.

Manchester City opened the score after scoreless first half in the 53rd minutes of the second half , when Navas dribble down the right field and sent the ball over a low cross which Jovetic converted at the near post, after Steven Gerrard was unable to clear.Liverpool answered back within six minutes later, when Henderson conjuring up a delightful curling finish after the ball ran loose when Sterling tried to find Daniel Sturridge.

Jovetic scored again to give Manchester City 2-1 lead, toe-poking the ball part when Joe Hartafter who reacted quickly inside the box to a blocked shot on the edge of the penalty area.But Liverpool offensive attack kept the momentum to tied the score when Raheem Sterling fired the equalizer into the back of the net for Liverpool in the 85th minute.

After a lively performance throughout, Manchester City were lackluster in the shoot-out, with Aleksandar Kolarov, Yaya Toure and Navas all failing to convert from the spot.Manchester City finally found the net when youngster Kelechi Iheanacho stepped up but Lucas then sent Joe Hart the wrong way to win it for Liverpool.
