Recent News        Iona College's Late Rally Upends Indiana State, 91-84!

NEW YORK (SMI-WIRE,12.13.14) The Iona men's basketball team used a second half strong offensive attack to defeat Indiana State, 91-84, during a sell-out game @ Hynes Center, Iona College.

The Goals were stunned by Indiana State from the start, scoring 3-pointer long shots out of the arc and  trailing as many as 15 points during the first half.

Also Indiana State's defense marked & held the nation's leading scorer, A.J. English to eight points for the entire game.

Iona's defensive line regrouped and the offense managed to get a 13-4 run to get within six points heading into the locker-room with Indiana lead 48-42.

In the second half , both teams traded baskets creating eleven ties & eleven lead changes, when the Goals would score down the stretch eight straight points & a driving layup by Laury with 6:20 left put the Gaels ahead 74-72 and from there never surrender the lead again for the final vcitory.

Iona College were led by three players in double-figures,David Laury with 30 points and eleven rebounds.Isaiah Williams contributed with 27 points & seven

rebounds.Also Schadrac Casimir added 16 points & 6 rebounds.

The Goals offensive attack shot 47.5% from the Field Goal,36.7% from the three point line & 72% free throws.

Indiana had 4 players in double-figures with Kristian Smith scoring 24 points & 8 rebounds.Devonte Brown added 15 points & 5 rebound,Scott Brenton with 16 points & 6 rebounds, while Jusin Gant contributed with 10 points.

With the win today , Iona improve to 6-3 overall & Indiana State 3-6 overall.
