Emma Raducanu Defeats Leylah Fernandez in the Final Championship Match
and wins her First Tennis Major at the 2021 US Open..! 

  

FLUSHING, NY (SMI-WOMEN SPORTS, 09.11.21)-Sensational English 18-year-old Emma Raducanu made history Today, after defeating Leylah Fernandez of Canada in 2-sets (6-4, 6-3) in the final championship match of the 2021 US Open, winning her FIRST tennis major and becoming the first qualifier in the history of either men or women to win a Grand Slam.

 

Raducanu who came into the 2021 US Open tennis tournament ranked World#150, managed to accomplished an astonishing run in the qualifying rounds to reach the main draw and win the 2021 US Open women's single crown without losing a single set in the whole tournament.

The English teen with her victory became the first British woman tennis player to win a Grand slam since Virginia Wade did it in 1977, and the youngest to win a tennis major since Maria Sharapova at 17, won her first tennis crown at the 2004 Wimbledon.

 

Emma Raducanu is the new 2021 US Open Women's single champion and as the winner of the tournament, she will receive the purse or prize of $2.5 million and Leyha Fernadez as the runner-up will get $1.25 million.
