Recent News           Columbia Lions Triumphs Over Brown, 86-65 !

NEW YORK (SMI-WIRE,01.31.15) The Columbia men's basketball team got back into the Ivy League winning column by defeating Brown University, 86-65, during a saturday evening's  game @ Levien Gym,Columbia University.

Columbia battled Brown during the enire first half exchanging baskets back & forth, but the Lions  used the long ball netting nine three pointers-shots from out the arc during  a 15-3 run, heading to the locker-rooms leading 39-35 at the end of the first half.In the second  half with Columbia leading 39-35, the Bears battled back to tie the game, 50-50, five minutes into the second half on a Hobbie three pointer shot.Then the Lions scored eight of the game's next nine points to pull ahead, 58-51, on a Steve Frankowski 3 pointer basket.Blackmon's floater in the lane pulled the Bears to within a point of the Lions, 61-60, with 9:05 mark on the clock of the second half.Columbia responded out-scoring the Bears, during a 23-2 run in the last 6 minutes of the game giving Lions a 79-63 lead & sealing the victory for the lions.

Columbia were led by three players in double-figure with Kyle Castlin scoring 21 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Luke Petrasek added 14 points & Maodo Lo contributed with 15 points in the win.

With the victory Columbia improved to 10-8 overall in the season while improving 2-2 in the Ivy League Conference.
